Mississippi has 70 federal campgrounds offering a combined 1,693 overnight sites. These facilities are managed by three federal agencies: the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (58 campgrounds), the U.S. Forest Service (8 campgrounds), and the National Park Service (4 campgrounds). The Corps of Engineers operates the largest share, primarily along Mississippi's lakes and waterways, while the Forest Service manages campgrounds in national forests, and the National Park Service oversees sites at national monuments and recreation areas.
