Frequently asked questions

Where does this data come from?

The Recreation Information Database (RIDB) full export — the federal system of record behind Recreation.gov. It's a U.S. Government work (public domain). We emit facts only (name, location, agency, site count, reservable flag) with a source link per campground.

Does it include state parks or private campgrounds?

No. Coverage is federal only — Forest Service, Park Service, BLM, Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and Fish & Wildlife. State-park, county and private/KOA campgrounds are outside the federal directory and not listed.
